A closed gas station in Southlake could have a new life soon.

During the June 4 council meeting, a zoning change and masonry variance were approved for a Tom Thumb Express gas station in front of the Tom Thumb store at 110 W. Southlake Blvd., Southlake. The first reading was approved and the final passage, if voted in favor of, would come during the June 18 meeting.

The details

The former Texaco gas station will be revamped in the plan presented by Tom Thumb with a new facade, roof structure improvements and canopy. In addition, the car wash there will be torn down and replaced with a drive-thru ATM from a bank—though the name of the bank was not discussed during the presentation. The facade of the building will match the look of the Tom Thumb store, according to the presentation.

According to David Hardin, senior real estate manager with Albertsons, the plan is to have the store open in late 2024 or early 2025.
