When brothers Steven and Eric Wang opened Mesion Studio in Southlake in 2022, they did so with experience gleaned from growing up in the fashion industry. Their parents, Eddie and Ming Wang, are the founders of Meison and are the manufacturers of clothing lines Ming Wang and Missook. Kelsey Cameron, Meison Studio manager and head stylist, said Meison also owns the United States rights to Masai Copenhagen as well as online rights to Kasper and Jones New York.

Steven Wang was inspired by what he saw when he visited a Trunk Club, which was a fashion studio specializing in personalized styling.

“It was welcoming, an incredible alternative way to shop,” Cameron said. “He saw that and said, 'That is the future of retail and luxury shopping rather than going into malls.'”

The backstory

In 2022, the brothers opened Meison Studio, a subsidiary of Meison, to be a personal styling business featuring Meison apparel.

Cameron said Steven Wang is the visionary and leader of the direction and future of Meison Studios, whereas Eric Wang is president and head of human resources and employee experience. Prior to starting her job at Meison Studio in May, Cameron worked for Trunk Club and owned a styling company.

A closer look

Prior to the complimentary appointment with a stylist, customers will complete a questionnaire where they provide their height, weight, color preferences, patterns they wouldn’t wear, how they like their clothes to fit and what their needs are for the appointment.

Upon arriving, they will be offered complimentary drinks, and their stylist will present outfits they selected for them based on the data gathered from the questionnaire.

“One of the best things I hear from people who come in is they wind up trying things they would have never tried or picked out for themselves, but they wind up loving it,” Cameron said. “That’s what keeps them coming back—a new perspective in an easy and fun way to shop.”

The specifics

Meison Studio’s selection includes casual, professional and special occasion attire.

Their customers’ ages typically range from 35 to 70 years old, Cameron said.

“A woman said she hadn’t shopped much since having her two children; she was stuck in leggings and hadn’t put on jeans in years,” Cameron said. “I educated her on flattering styles and pulled a pair of jeans that made her feel so good. She said she finally feels she can wear cuter clothes again.”
