The Grapevine City Council approved a conditional-use permit for the business at 401 W. Hwy. 114. Owner Michael Speets spoke to the council in a March 21 meeting about his plans for his $1.5 million investment in the expansion that will forge ahead now that he got the clearance from council.
He will add six multisport simulators, including a VR shooting game and baseball hitting simulators that will account for half of the expansion, according to documents. The expansion will go behind the existing restaurant and will take away from the parking lot to the south of the location.
There will also be a roll-up door for patio seating for 17 patrons.
Crush-It Sports opened in 2020, with the initial plan approved in late 2019.
“I think I am a known as a fun place to go do sports simulations,” Speets said. “We have great service, good food and good drinks. But three years into [being open], I don’t think that is enough. Every single month seems like new competitors are opening doors; I need to keep that in account. This will be a nice way to prove the concept and take the next step forward. I do want to take the risk and expand the building.”
He added the expansion will turn into 10 new full-time jobs and increase pay for management. 817-270-9600. www.crushitsports.com
