The 36th Annual Carol of Lights on Nov. 25 kicked off the start of the holiday season in Grapevine, the state-recognized Christmas Capital of Texas.

The event started with a street light on Main Street, from Dallas Street to Northwest Highway. That was different than in the past, which was a tree lighting ceremony near Grapevine Main train station, according to a news release.

In a nutshell

Later in the night, Santa appeared on three different stages along with Grapevine City Council Members and Mrs. Claus at three different locations on Main Street.

Other events along Main Street and side streets included:
  • Live reindeer
  • Six themed bounce houses
  • Inflatable maze and toboggan tunnel
  • Mobile curling lanes
  • Grapevine Christmas Market, featuring homemade or handcrafted goods
  • 20 food vendors
  • Interactive life-sized toys
