“We were both trying to eat clean and organic, and the menu was already all-organic and clean,” Cody said.
The couple was keen on using the existing recipes, but they also wanted to make the business their own. In mid-2022, they changed the name to Cold Press Cafe.
Damaris said having the word “cafe” in the name helps convey what customers will find inside.
“They saw ‘juicery’ on the sign and they said they didn’t know we had coffee and snacks,” she said. “We’re a great brunch place.”
When the couple bought the business, part of the negotiation process included purchasing the recipes for the juices, smoothies, bowls, cleanses and coffee. The couple has since added pumpkin soup, salad, fruit cups and chocolate chia pudding to the menu.
Juice options range from sweet to those with heavier vegetable tones.
Damaris said they are prepared to make recommendations to help customers meet their goals.
“If you want to feel energized, you should order Blue Lightning,” she said. “For muscle recovery, order Pura Vida. That has beets in it for heart health.”
They said other natural ingredients, such as frozen purple sweet potato used as the base for the Ube Bowl, create additional pops of color.
“Everything is organic and whole,” Damaris said. “Taste the good rainbow.”
Cody said they love being in Colleyville, and he expressed gratitude for how supportive the city has been to them as business owners. They hope to open a second location within five years.
“[My favorite aspects of owning the business are] that it’s ours, and [we are] helping people get healthy,” Damaris said.
