Current situation
The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex has seen a mix of precipitation, including snow, sleet and frozen rain, since Thursday morning. Western Tarrant County has accumulated 3 inches of sleet and snow while portions of Denton and Collin counties have seen 3-5 inches as of Thursday afternoon, said Matt Bishop, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
Looking ahead
Accumulations of wintry mix will continue through the evening.
“There might be a break [in the] late afternoon, but it’ll pick back up this evening and become predominately snow,” Bishop said.
Portions of the region are expected to gain another 1-2 inches of snow through late Thursday evening and overnight, he said.
Road conditions are expected to improve in the late morning or midday Jan. 10 across the metroplex. Most untreated roads will be difficult to use and bridges and overpasses have the potential to be impassable, according to the service.
