The National Weather Service expects winter weather to impact the Dallas-Fort Worth area through the morning of Friday, Jan. 10. A hazardous weather outlook was issued Jan. 6 by the service.

The overview

Winter weather is expected to pick up Tuesday with wind chills in the teens Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties may see 2-5 inches of snow with a 20-40% chance of 6+ inches of snow.

Travel impacts are expected due to wintry precipitation Wednesday night through Friday morning, especially on roads where 2-5 inches of snow are likely, according to the service.

Information on the upcoming weather can be found through the weather service’s website.

One more thing

The Texas power grid is not expected to face issues during the Jan. 6-10 cold snap.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas issued a “weather watch” for Jan. 6-10 as temperatures dropped below freezing across the state. The weather watch does not indicate an emergency and is not a call for conservation.
