Construction on King Road in Frisco is set to begin in early 2026 after a vote by City Council on Nov. 18.

The details

Construction on King Road will take place about 280 feet west of Witt Road to Rose Lane. King Road will be four lanes between Witt Road and Anthem Drive, and three lanes between Anthem Drive and Rose Lane when completed, according to city documents.

City Council unanimously approved an agreement with the town of Little Elm, as well as Denton County, to pay for the construction as part of its consent agenda Nov. 18.

There was already an agreement between the entities that was approved in 2022. However, the construction price of about $11.6 million was higher than initially estimated when the agreement was approved.

What happened?

In late October, Denton County approved an increase in its contribution to the project. The county is throwing in an additional $1.5 million, for a total of $6 million.

The lighting and landscaping for the project are to be paid exclusively by Frisco, per the agreement.

Frisco will contribute about $538,000, as well as half of the cost of the project. The town of Little Elm will contribute $1.6 million to the road construction.
