Drivers should expect delays on several major roadways in southeast Frisco on April 12 as part of the 2025 Texas Big Star Half Marathon and 5K.

The event is being presented by the Frisco Chamber Foundation and will help raise funds for nonprofit charitable organizations in North Texas.

The 2025 Texas Big Star Half Marathon and 5K scheduled for the weekend will see road and lane closures 5-11 a.m., according to a city news release. Some lanes will be open and traffic barricades will be removed throughout the marathon.

Staff, volunteers, vendors, runners and spectators must arrive at Collin College before 7 a.m as there will be no vehicular access to the college until 8:30 a.m.

The marathon is scheduled to start and end at Collin College. Detours and traffic delays along the race route with restricted movement at the intersection of Coit Road and Rolater Road are expected.

City officials recommended drivers seek alternative routes during the marathon. A map of the race route and alternate roads to use were published as part of the city news release.

Lane closures begin before 5 a.m. April 12. More closures will take place before the race starts at 7 a.m.


Drivers utilizing roads that cross the race route should expect delays, according to the news release. Roads will reopen as soon as the last runners progress clockwise through the course.

Lane closures along Hillcrest Road are expected to open first, followed by Main Street, Custer Road and so on until all roads are fully open at 11 a.m.
