Latest update
Base camp locations were announced during a press conference celebrating the “One Year to Go” mark for the international event June 11 by Monica Paul, president of the North Texas FIFA World Cup 2026 Organizing Committee. The locations include:
- The University of North Texas at Denton
- Texas Christian University in Fort Worth
- University of Dallas in Irving
- Dallas Baptist University
- Mansfield Stadium
The teams utilizing the base camps will not be announced until February or March 2026 after teams draw for spots in December 2025, Paul said. The Dallas region also has the most base camps compared to other host cities, she said.
“We want Dallas to be recognized as an international city,” Paul said. “We feel like that can take shape in many forms, additional tourism, but then also additional businesses looking to move their headquarters or open up an office here in the DFW region.”
Host regions are expected to see an economic impact of $1.5 billion to $2.1 billion, according to a study FIFA did with accounting and consulting firm Deloitte.
In case you missed it
The city of Dallas’ Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center was chosen to host the International Broadcast Center for the World Cup. Approximately 2,000 media representatives will use the center between January and August 2026 to cover both the build-up and the tournament itself, officials said.
This is Dallas’ second time hosting the IBC. The first was during the 1994 World Cup.
