24 Hour Fitness announced June 15 the company has filed for bankruptcy as a result of the "devastating effects" of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a release.
The fitness club franchise will close 11 Dallas-Fort Worth-area gyms, according to the 24 Hour Fitness website. Some DFW closures include Frisco Sport at 3865 Preston Road, Keller Super Sport at 5901 Golden Triangle, Lewisville at 724 W. Main St. and Plano Super Sport at 4600 W. Park Blvd.
24 Hour Fitness is continuing to reopen its remaining gyms in a phased approach and expects to reopen a majority of gyms by the end of June, per the release. During reopenings, all members will have access to any available 24 Hour Fitness clubs through the end of 2020 regardless of membership level. www.24hourfitness.com
