The details
The gift card program is a buy one get one offer for gift cards available for purchase ranging from $25 to $250, according to a Nov. 3 city news release. Those who purchase cards will receive an additional card of the same amount.
Cards will be available for purchase Nov. 4 at this link.
The Frisco Community Development Corp. is funding the matching dollars for the BOGO program, while funds last.
City officials have printed out more than 4,900 physical gift cards in 2025 to support The Rail District. The city handed out 1,500 gift cards to residents Oct. 22.
How it works
If someone purchases a $25 gift card, they’ll get another one with the same amount. The buyer would then have $50 to spend at participating businesses in The Rail District.
The purchased gift card does not expire. The additional cards provided by the FCDC expire Jan. 31, 2026.
The FCDC allocated $500,000 to support businesses in The Rail District. A portion of the funds, $200,000, is being used to provide advertising grants for Rail District businesses, which businesses can apply for. The other $300,000 is being used to fund gift card programs for the area.
What they’re saying
“The Frisco Community Development Corporation is proud to invest local sales tax dollars back into the community through programs that directly benefit our small businesses,” FCDC Chair Chad Brubaker said in the Nov. 3 news release.
The context
The program is meant to support the businesses as the city finishes redeveloping The Rail District, according to the news release.
The redevelopment project includes the reconstruction of Main Street in The Rail District, as well as a new parking garage and pedestrian plaza, all set to cost more than $80 million.
Crews are currently focusing efforts on paving Main Street. The road construction on Main Street is expected to be finished in January. The parking garage and pedestrian plaza could be completed by mid-2026.
The work is meant to make the area more pedestrian-friendly, officials said.
