Frisco will spend more than $4.6 million on median enhancements throughout the city.

Frisco City Council members approved a contract for the work at an Aug. 19 meeting.

The details

The project runs through several areas along FM 423 and Custer Road, according to city documents. It will involve installing street trees, ornamental shrub beds and river rock as well as new turf grass on the medians.

About $2.3 million of the work will be funded through Texas Department of Transportation’s Green Ribbon program, which uses state and federal dollars for landscaping projects in highway rights of way. The Green Ribbon program funds for the project include $1.8 million from the federal government and $467,178 from the state. The remaining $2.3 million will be paid for with city bonds.

Construction on the project is expected to begin in September and last about nine months.
