2025 has brought several major development projects so far to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Cities such as Richardson and Plano are aiming to repurpose outdated office space as apartments, while entertainment attractions in Frisco and Grapevine are set to undergo renovations.

Desks into doorsteps: Unused Richardson office buildings set for redevelopment into apartments

Three projects that aim to repurpose outdated office space as apartments are in the early stages of development. The Glenville, a former Baylor Scott & White medical office, and Sherman Lofts have both started construction. A third, located at 250 E. Arapaho Road, was approved by City Council.

Construction begins at Frisco’s Toyota Stadium


Work to bring more than $182 million worth of improvements to Frisco’s Toyota Stadium is officially underway. Construction will be done in phases over the next three years and includes new luxury suites, stadium technology and broadcast capabilities, canopy shade structures and adding over 3,400 seats.

396 new homes coming to Celina

The homes will sit at the northeast corner of FM 1385 and Tudor Place, and be constructed by national homebuilder Taylor Morrison. The development will feature a combination of one-to-three-bedroom single-story cottage homes, as well as two-story homes with garages. These homes will range in size from 700 square feet to 1,400 square feet.

McKinney commission recommends zoning approval for 785-acre Billingsley development


The new development plans for a mix of single-family homes, townhomes, commercial space and urban multifamily units. The project is proposed by Dallas-based Billingsley Company, a development company that’s built multiple master-planned communities across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Plans for revitalizing the former JCPenney headquarters, now known as The Park at Legacy, include a mix of retail, office and residential space, and a hotel.

Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine plans for $54M renovation


Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center will renovate its guest rooms this year, according to a state filing. Construction details include guest room renovations with new paint, corridor carpet, and wall and floor finishes.

Spring Valley Road, Abrams Road construction set to begin in Richardson

Construction at Spring Valley Road and Abrams Road is set to begin soon.

The contract for the intersection improvements for $1.173 million include removal of existing northbound and southbound lanes right-turn slip lanes, which allows traffic turning right to separate from through traffic at an intersection. The contract also includes improvements to the sidewalk and ramps, replacing traffic signals, inlet and storm drain relocation, and pavement marking and striping.


Tricon Residential completes 126-unit build-to-rent housing development in McKinney

Tricon Trinity Falls features a mix of one-and-two-story homes with three-and-four-bedroom layouts. The homes include two-car garages, fully fenced backyards and modern finishes. Tricon Residential offers resources to tenants, including financial coaching, a credit-building program and down payment assistance when tenants look to buy a home.
