A report presented to Frisco City Council members during a March 4 meeting included a look back at the library’s achievements since moving to a new, larger facility two years ago.
City officials also celebrated the two-year anniversary shortly before the council meeting during executive session, Mayor Jeff Cheney said.
“We’ve had a really successful two years,” Assistant Library Director Mayra Diaz said. “I just couldn’t be happier.”
Remember this?
The Public Library opened inside its 8000 Dallas Parkway space on March 4, 2023. The new location more than tripled the library’s space from what it was inside the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center.
Since opening, the library has seen 2.25 million visits, according to a meeting presentation.
Other milestones in the last two years include:
- 6.8 million check-outs
- 84,000 rooms reservations
The library as a whole has seen multiple enhancements since opening as well, Diaz said. This includes opening the library’s production studio, funding landscaping for the terrace, increasing the facility’s hours on Sundays and adding 270 spaces to the parking lot, according to a meeting presentation.
Limited parking was “a big friction point” for residents, Diaz said.
“We’re that popular,” she said.
