Universal Kids Resort reveals theme park lands in Frisco
Universal Kids Resort announced six theme park lands. The lands will be themed around characters including DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek, Gabby's Dollhouse, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants, Illumination’s Minions and Jurassic World. The theme areas will feature characters, rides and experiences fit into each of their inspired worlds.
AT&T looks to build 30,000-square-foot warehouse, administrative facility in southeast McKinney
Project officials requested a rezoning for the project site to allow for the development of warehouse and administrative space that would be used by AT&T. The nearly 11-acre project site is located in southeast McKinney at the northwest corner of Airport Drive and Old Mill Road, just south of the existing Harry McKillop Boulevard and the future Spur 399 extension.
Paving Plano: Bond referendum includes $130 million for 38 miles of asphalt repairs
Included in Plano’s 2025 bond package, which voters will decide on in May, is $130 million for 38 miles of overlays. While creating more road work in the short term, the arterial overlay process is meant to extend the lifespan of Plano’s roads.
Inter-district transfer on the horizon for Richardson ISD
Richardson ISD may soon allow students from outside the district’s boundaries to enroll under an expanded open enrollment policy. Inter-district transfer applicants will have a window of about one month to apply, according to the district presentation, and will be screened by attendance, academic performance, STAAR test results and discipline records. Placement will be based on capacity, staffing and program availability, with priority given to students residing within RISD’s boundaries.
Colleyville Council approves business park development near Colleyville Boulevard
A business park development will be coming to Colleyville after City Council approved a Planned Unit Development request Feb. 18. The property is 4.31 acres and located at 6521 Colleyville Blvd. The development includes three buildings with 23 suites averaging 3,600 square feet.
Keller ISD addresses $9.4M shortfall, budget cuts for fiscal year 2025-26
As the district prepares for the 2025-26 school year, projections indicate a $9.4 million shortfall in its budget. Possible budget cuts include increasing the high school student-teacher ratio by an average of 0.5, which will save $2.38 million; cutting transportation given to students not within state transportation requirements, which will save $900,000; and closing down Early Learning Center North and Early Learning Center South and moving kids into elementary schools, which will save $1 million.
Downtown Lewisville revitalization efforts continue as more developments open
Aura Main Street is slated to open in Old Town Lewisville this spring. It’ll be the fourth multifamily project to open in the area, following three developments that opened within the last year. More than 800 multifamily units have been added, with more expected in 2025, according to officials. Other projects include single-family and townhome developments that started construction since the Old Town Master Plan was last updated in 2022.
Kalahari could open proposed Allen location by 2030
Kalahari is on track to open a $950 million resort in North Texas by 2030. Company officials are looking to develop the project on a 123-acre site on Allen’s northern border with McKinney, located at the southwest corner of SH 121 and Stacy Road. The proposed Allen resort would span 1.2 million square feet, and include at least 900 guest rooms, an indoor and outdoor waterpark, a165,000-square-foot convention center, and a family entertainment center/arcade.
