What you need to know
The period to file for a place on the May 3 ballot is Jan. 15-Feb. 14.
Two seats, Places 2 and 4, will be featured on the ballot, which are currently held by members Tammy Meinershagen and Bill Woodard, respectively. Meinershagen is eligible for another term but Woodard, who was first elected in 2016, has hit his term limit and will not be running again.
Council members are elected at-large and represent the entire city collectively.
Residents interested in serving on council can find more information on filing and how to submit an application for a place on the ballot on the city’s website.
The last day to register to vote for the May election is April 3. Early voting will be from April 22-29, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s website.
