Residents are invited to participate in a discussion regarding the city’s finances Aug. 15 and Sept. 5.

Frisco City Council members approved a resolution Aug. 1 scheduling two public hearings about the 2023-24 fiscal year budget for their upcoming 6:30 p.m. meetings.

What you need to know

The two public hearings will both take place in council’s regular meeting chambers at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center located at 6101 Frisco Square Blvd.

Public hearings will also be held for the Frisco Economic Development Corporation and the Frisco Community Development Corporation budgets, according to meeting documents.

Keep in mind

The new budget is expected to lower the city’s property tax rate, Council Member Bill Woodard said.

“Bottom line is we are in a healthy financial position,” Woodard said. “[The] tax rate is going to go down a little bit, and we’re going to have a very large budget to review in the next few days.”

The proposed tax rate is $0.432205, which is slightly lower than the current $0.446600 rate. Frisco residents will also see higher utility rates from the North Texas Municipal Water District, Woodard said.

“I believe [city] staff said that [the NTMWD] was projecting about 11%,” Woodard said. “We may have gotten an email from the water district representative tonight and said it might be a little bit less than that.”
