Denton County Public Health confirmed a human case of West Nile virus in Frisco, making it the second human case in the city this year. The Frisco resident in Denton County was diagnosed with West Nile Neuroinvasive Disease. The first Frisco resident to contract the virus was in Collin County and was also diagnosed with West Nile Neuroinvasive Disease. The resident in Collin County has recovered from the disease. No information has been released on the condition of the resident in Denton County. The city of Frisco supports precautionary steps promoted by the Texas Department of State Health Services, which are commonly referred to as “The Four D’s”:
  • drain all standing water;
  • dress in light-colored, long-sleeve clothing when outdoors;
  • DEET—use mosquito repellents that contain deet; and
  • dusk or dawn—avoid outdoor activities during these hours when mosquitoes are most active.
