Brent Hagenbuch won the Texas Senate, District 30 runoff race for the Republican bid over opponent Jace Yarbrough, while Dale Frey defeated Michael Braxton for the Democratic bid, according to unofficial voting results with all precincts reporting in Collin and Denton counties.

For the Republican position on the ballot, Hagenbuch received 55.23%, or 7,625 votes, over opponent Yarbrough’s 6,180 votes, according to unofficial election results.

Meanwhile, Frey received 68.69%, or 1,312 votes, over Braxton’s 598 votes on the Democratic ticket.


By the numbers

In Collin County, 28,295, people cast a Republican ballot, which is about 3.92% of registered voters, and 301 people cast a Democratic ballot, which is about .39% of registered voters.

In Denton County, 17,381 people cast a Republican ballot, which is about 4.79% of registered voters, and 13,087 people cast a Democratic ballot, which is about 4.08% of registered voters.

For the Republican position on the ballot, Hagenbuch leads with 57.11%, or 5,500 votes, over opponent Yarbrough’s 4,131 votes, according to unofficial early election results.

Meanwhile, Frey leads with 65.69%, or 990 votes, over Braxton’s 517 votes on the Democratic ticket.

In Collin County, 19,621 people cast a Republican ballot during early voting and by mail, and 245 people cast a Democratic ballot during early voting.

In Denton County, 12,523 people cast a Republican ballot and 9,349 people cast a Democratic ballot during early voting.
