Frisco ISD is searching for its new superintendent, and a lone finalist could be named by next March.

The district's board of trustees selected Impact Education Specialists to guide the district through its executive search process Dec. 15.

How we got here

Superintendent Mike Waldrip's retirement was announced by the district Nov. 10. Waldrip has served as superintendent of FISD since 2017 and is stepping down June 30, 2026.

During the school board's November meeting, trustees voted to retain a search firm for the superintendent position.

The approach

Impact Education Specialists was one of two search firm options selected by district staff.

The consulting firm was formed in summer 2023, and since then has finalized 19 executive searches, firm partner Doug Williams said. The firm has previously completed superintendent searches for Ponder ISD, Greenville ISD and Lubbock-Cooper ISD, among others, according to its website.

Williams explained the firm has experience in working with area districts and is equipped to work with districts of different sizes and demographics.

Impact Education Specialist’s search process includes creating a personalized profile for Frisco ISD, which will be used when accepting applicants. The consulting firm will also involve the FISD community in the search by conducting community input sessions.

Looking ahead

District officials aim to name a lone finalist by March 30, firm partner Keith Bryant said, and a potential search timeline for the new superintendent is:
  • Mid-December: superintendent position posted
  • Mid-January: community input sessions
  • Late January: application deadline
  • Early February: initial candidate screening
  • Mid-February: candidates selected for interviews
  • Late February-early March: first interviews
  • Late March: proposed hiring date
