Here are some important dates, new school policies and other information for FISD families to know before the new school year.
What you need to know
FISD students will not be allowed to use their cell phones and other personal devices during the school day after a new state mandate goes into effect.
Personal devices—including cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, earbuds and Bluetooth headphones—must be turned off and stored in backpacks when the school day begins. The policy applies to passing periods, lunch and any other non-instructional time a student has on campus.
Students will only be allowed to use district-issued technology, such as Chromebooks, during the school day.
Middle and high school students are able to request their Chromebooks for the 2025-26 school year. The Chromebook will go home with students and is expected to be charged and brought back the next day.
Middle school students will be provided a Chromebook to use at home and school. High school students are encouraged to participate in the 1 For All program to receive a touchscreen Chromebook. High school students who do not pay the insurance fee will receive a non-touchscreen Chromebook.
Second through fifth graders students will have access to Chromebooks at a 1:1 ratio and students do not take their devices home.
More information on the district's technology programs can be found here.
School supply lists for elementary and middle school students will be posted on their campus webpage.
The required supplies for high school students depends on their selected courses and students will be informed of the needed supplies during the first week of school. High school students should bring paper, a writing utensil and folder on the first day of school, according to the district.
Student meal prices have increased this year and are:
- $2.50 breakfast for all students
- $3 lunch for elementary students
- $4 lunch for middle and and high school students
The fall and spring semesters are similar in length with only four more instructional days in the spring semester.

- Fall break: Oct. 10, 13-14
- Thanksgiving break: Nov. 24-28
- Winter break: Dec. 22-Jan. 5, 2026
