Some employees in Frisco ISD will be given $250 to help pay for classroom supplies for the 2023-24 school year.

The stipend was approved by the FISD board of trustees Aug. 14. A portion of the district’s general fund balance will be used for the incentive payments, according to the board's resolution.

The details

During the board meeting, Kimberly Smith, FISD chief finance and strategy officer, said employees who will receive the stipend include:
  • Teachers
  • Teacher facilitators
  • Librarians
  • Speech therapists
The stipend is meant to benefit district students, enhance employee morale and recognize employee’s service to the district, the resolution stated.

Looking back

In the 2018-19 school year, teachers and staff received $250 for new supplies through additional funds the district received after its tax ratification election. Employees also received a stipend after the 2019-20 school year to assist those who used personal equipment and supplies during COVID-19 closures.
