The first Unicorndog location opened in Irving, Jun said. The Frisco location opened in September 2023.
“I had been searching for my second location, and it took me almost a year,” Jun said. “I saw the growth and the growing population [in Frisco] ... I thought our food items would be attractive to them.”
What’s on the menu?
The number one item on the menu are corndogs, which are served Korean style, Jun said.
“Corndogs are very traditional in Korea,” Jun said. “The difference is that they put breadcrumbs and sugar on the outside.”
Additionally, patrons can order bacon, hot Cheetos or potatoes on the corndog as well.
The restaurant offers popcorn chicken paired with a number dipping sauce options and cupbop, a rice bowl served with either bulgogi, chicken or mandoo—a type of dumpling.
Unicorndog also has a dessert menu which includes croffle. It is a dessert made by pressing croissant dough into a waffle iron and funnel cake served with powdered sugar and one of seven toppings including caramel, strawberries and chocolate.
Jun said she added funnel cake to the menu because it is not an item people can usually order outside of a fair.
What’s in a name?
Jun said the unicorn is her favorite mythical animal, which contributed to the restaurant's name.
“I was trying to think of a name that related to corndogs,” Jun said. “One day, my niece gave me a keychain that said 'unicorn’ and I was like ‘unicorn has corn in it’ and I just put ‘dog’ on it.”
