The rustic earth-toned cafe specializes in breakfast and lunch, but also serves dinner on Fridays, said Nelly Aguirre, who also works there as a server. Jose Aguirre and his brother Librado curated the menu using their decades of experience in the restaurant industry, crafting dishes such as the WiscoTex skillet—a heap of steak, tomatoes, red and green peppers, onions, and cheddar cheese served on a bed of potatoes and topped with three eggs, Nelly Aguirre said.

Bagel Cafe

The shop is owned by Kyriakos and Lisa Kouzoukas, who have previously owned bagel shops in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Bagel Cafe offers 18 flavors of bagels, including rainbow bagels, and 11 varieties of cream cheese spread, according to its website. The bagels are New York-style, Kyriakos Kouzoukas said, and undergo a multistep process including proofing and boiling before being baked. The restaurant is bringing American fare with a polished twist to Roanoke, the craft food eatery Founder Dave Garner said in an email. Diners can find a diverse menu that includes fresh seafood, wood-fired steaks, chutney chicken and pastas.
