A Fortune 100 financial advising and retirement firm is heading to The Star in Frisco and bringing thousands of jobs with it.

Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association will fully occupy a new, 15-story office tower north of Cowboys Way and west of Dallas North Tollway. An April 27 news release from Gov. Greg Abbott announced TIAA’s plans, and the Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission approved building plans earlier in the month.

The upcoming, 500,000-square-foot property will bring 2,000 jobs to the North Texas region by the end of 2029, a TIAA statement read.

Thasunda Duckett, president and CEO of TIAA, said the new site will support the company's future growth.

"The addition of associates in the Frisco office will increase our capacity to serve new and existing clients as they plan for and live in retirement,” Duckett said in the release. “The terrific amenities and great location will be a real benefit for our people."

Mayor Jeff Cheney said TIAA will become one of the largest private sector employers in Frisco’s history.

"TIAA jobs closely align with the skills and talents of the Frisco workforce, and Frisco is the perfect place for TIAA’s rapid growth,” Cheney said in the release. “This is a huge win for Frisco and for Texas."

The tower will be built near the 11-story office tower currently being constructed. That tower is set to be complete by the first quarter of 2023.

The office will host client relations, service and technology roles, according to TIAA. Employees currently in the firm’s Lewisville office will move into the Frisco location when it is complete and ready for occupancy in 2024.
