Frisco City Council members approved a $322,500 contract with Studio TLA, an Ontario, Canada-based firm, to design Buffalo Ridge Park during their July 3 meeting.
The specifics
Named for the buffalo that once grazed its land, the park is located at the southeast corner of Independence Parkway and Main Street and near Frisco ISD’s Liberty High School.
The project’s location ensures it will bring a “centrally located state-of-the-art neighborhood park” for its multiple surrounding communities, according to meeting documents.
Park features will include a looping trail, playground areas for children ages 2-12 years old, landscaping, potential public art spaces and more, according to meeting documents.
Looking back
Buffalo Ridge is not the first Frisco park designed by Studio TLA. The firm was also hired in June 2022 to design Davis Park and Trail, an 11-acre park located on Research Road next to Memorial High School expected to open in summer 2024.
What’s next
Construction on Buffalo Ridge Park is expected to finish in early summer 2024. More information on incoming city parks can be found at the parks capital improvement website.
