Prior to opening Culture A Day Spa in 2018, Katelin and Jon Schebler moved every two or three years due to Jon’s corporate job. Every time the married couple relocated, Katelin, a licensed esthetician, would find a new job as a therapist.

However, when the couple moved to Frisco, they realized this was where they wanted to stay and determined the time was right to open their own business.

“It was always hard for me to leave my clients, but it was really good because it prepared me to be able to start again from the ground up,” Katelin said. “I keep in mind what I, as an employee and team member, appreciate. I wanted to be the boss that I always wanted.”

What’s in a name?

Jon said the culture element of the business name is something that is built by both their team member and client’s experiences.

“We create our own bubble of positivity and support,” Katelin said. “If the team feels well taken care of—they can thrive, then they take good care of the clients and give a consistent experience for the clients.”

In the mood for a diamond facial?

Culture offers a wide range of facial options including Illuminating Diamond Facial, which incorporates pure diamond powder and Ageless Caviar Facial featuring a caviar infused face mask.

“When I was looking at what I wanted my facial menu to look like, I not only wanted to perform my facials in a way that no one else can do—I wanted a menu that no one else has,” Katelin said.

What makes them unique?

Katelin said one thing that sets them apart from other spas is they adhere to specific custom protocols which allows for a consistent and elevated experience.

The Himalayan stone massage is one of the top requested services at Culture.

“The Himalayan stones are more rare to find in services,” Katelin said. “They are softly heated salt stones that deposit 84 trace minerals into the skin and muscles. It reduces inflammation and relaxes the muscles. It can be performed in any pressure style, so it can be custom for the guests.”

What’s next?

Construction is wrapping up on a 1,400 square foot expansion project. Jon said many components included in the project were client driven such as a larger women’s locker room and an infrared sauna.

There will also be an igloo room, which is popular in Sweden, that helps increase metabolism, reduces inflammation and promotes better sleep.

“They'll come in and will already be snow in there. If they want more snow, they press a button...and it's going to flurry and create more fluffy snow,” Katelin said. “You can sit back, relax and have it snow on you or you can sit to the side with a cup of tea bundled in a blanket.”
