The largest fundraiser of the year for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County will be held Oct.17 at the Frisco Embassy Suites Hotel & Convention Center, 7600 John Q. Hammons Drive.

This year’s event will celebrate 46 years of local service including programs that concentrate on academic success, building character and leadership, and instilling health and life skills, according to the BGCCC.

“While the 2014 gala was our most successful event to date, we hope to exceed the attendance and revenue figures as our needs continue to drastically increase,” said Mike Simpson, BGCCC chief executive officer, in a news release. “We are being faced with the need to expand our current facilities and plan for new locations in communities we have been asked to serve. Currently our club members are picked up from schools across a very large county with a fleet of over 21 buses serving 69 schools and six community locations. Our financial and transportation needs will expand proportionately with growth.”

Capital One will again be the presenting underwriter for the sixth year. Sanjiv Yajnik, president of Capital One Financial Services, said as new jobs are created in the area, it is important to remember area children's needs.

“Capital One is proud to be a longtime supporter of BGCCC and its programs,” Yajnik said in a news release. “Through our east Plano and south Dallas place-based Initiatives, we are collaborating and planning with trusted and proven nonprofit partners like BGCCC to revitalize communities and build a brighter future for their residents.”

The fundraiser event will feature a four course dinner including refreshments, a reception and silent auction, plus a live auction and sponsor-a-child program. WFAA Sports anchor and news reporter Joe Trahan will emcee the event and the Emerald City Band will provide entertainment for the evening.
