The first phase of construction, which runs along Gerault between Big Canyon Drive and Flower Mound Road, began Aug. 13, per the release.
What’s happening
Contractors with Curtco began repairing the deteriorated pavement joint seal, Communications Director Melissa Demmitt said in an email. A pavement joint seal repair is done on roads to help prevent moisture from reaching the road’s subgrade, which can cause damage and reduce a roadway’s lifespan, Demmitt added.
While initial work began in the northbound lane of Gerault Road, several concurrent phases of repairs are planned for the entire project. Once construction on Gerault ends, crews will work along Morriss Road until reaching Cross Timbers Road, according to the town’s project website.
The roadwork has a cost of more than $469,785, which is funded through a dedicated contribution from sales tax collections.
What’s next
The entire project is expected to last six weeks, wrapping up in early October, Demmitt said. During construction, at least one northbound lane will remain open to traffic when crews are making repairs.
