Closures along I-35E will be closed to accommodate the installation of steel girders for a new overpass at Main Street in Lewisville, according to a social media post.

The northbound and southbound lanes along the interstate will close starting at 10 p.m. June 13 and reopen at noon June 14, per the post. A second closure is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. June 14 through noon June 15.

The details

Northbound traffic on I-35E will be required to exit at Fox Avenue, said Tila Grant, a Texas Department of Transportation public information officer. Southbound traffic will have to take the Main Street exit to avoid the work area.

During the weekend construction, the managed lanes on I-35E will be closed between 8 p.m. June 13 and 5 p.m. June 16. The overpass along Main Street will also be closed to all traffic except for emergency vehicles.

Construction crews will be installing steel girders that will support the new overpass being built along Main Street in Lewisville, according to the post. The project is included in the second phase of I-35E improvements.

What else?

The Main Street overpass is part of a $105 million project that includes construction of new main travel lanes for and frontage roads along I-35E, Grant said. Further nightly lane closures to complete the new overpass bridge construction are planned, Grant added.

Construction is expected to wrap up in late 2026, Grant said.
