Council unanimously approved a little more than $347,292 for both projects as part of its consent agenda at the Oct. 20 meeting. Both projects will be funded through the town’s 2025 bond program, which was approved by voters in May.
The details
The two-phase trail construction project will take place at Shadow Ridge Park and includes a new multiuse looped trail through the area, according to town documents. The project will start at St. Francis Lane and extends to Lexington Crossing.
During the first phase, work crews with Apex Concrete Construction Inc. will remove 1,320 square yards of existing sidewalk and install more than 2,027 square yards of new concrete trail, per town documents. Further improvements include: installing three new accessible pedestrian ramps and replacing trail sections that are not Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible.
The project cost is $257,847, which will be covered by 2025 bond funds. Construction is expected to take up to four weeks and is scheduled to start in November, according to town documents.
A second phase of trail will extend the trail from Lexington Crossing to Shadow Ridge Middle School, completing the connection of the town’s Bluebonnet Trail system.
