Town Manager Mike Sims presented Argyle’s fiscal year 2025-26 budget proposal at the Aug. 18 council meeting, which had funds dedicated to development projects, drainage and street maintenance.

The net total expenditures proposed for FY 2025-26 is $20.1 million, Sims said.

Breaking down the budget

The proposed FY 2025-26 budget dedicated funds to future town projects, including:Sims also identified four to six streets around the town that need repairing and set aside funds in the budget to tackle those projects, which included $1.5 million for asphalt streets and $250,000 for concrete pot repairs.

“This is setting up the budget for [these projects],” Sims said. “The actual streets would be council’s prerogative.”

During fiscal year 2024-25, the town received $1 million in sales taxes for the street maintenance fund and spent about $100,000 of that revenue for Frenchtown Road repairs, Sims said.

“We need to do better, we need to deliver real world street improvements for our citizens,” he said.

The proposed budget also has $220,000 allocated toward drainage projects and $102,000 for tree preservation.
