Filing for a place on the ballot for the May 3 election ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
The details
In Flower Mound, Town Council seats for places 1 and 3 are up for grabs. Adam Schiestel was first appointed to Place 1 in 2021. He and Place 3 incumbent Brian Taylor were later elected in 2022. Taylor will run against Justin DeFillippo, and Schiestel is running unopposed. Whoever is elected will serve a three-year term.
Highland Village has three places, Place 3, Place 5 and Place 7, up for election in May.
Place 3 incumbent Kevin Cox, who was first elected in May 2023, is the only candidate who has filed for his seat. Similarly Rhonda Hurst, who was initially elected in May 2023, is the sole candidate for Place 5.
Brian Fiorenza, the Place 7 incumbent, has filed for re-election having first garnered his council seat in May 2022.
All candidates are elected at-large, meaning any Highland Village resident can vote for any candidate, to two-year terms.
Argyle has three positions on the May ballot: the mayor and council places two and four.
Council member Place 2 Ronald Schmidt filed for mayor. He is running against Chad Sheddy for the position. The winner would replace current mayor Rick Bradford whose term expires this year.
Martin Brading and Jeffrey Castellanos are running for place two on the council. Both candidates are currently on the planning and zoning commission Place 2 and Place 7, respectively.
For council Place 4, incumbent Casey Stewart will face Robert Hart. Stewart was elected to Place 4 in 2023.
All candidates are elected at-large to terms that are two years, which would expire in 2027.
