Flower Mound received grant funding from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, which will help pay for a planned park project.

The town received $750,000 from the state for its planned Trotter Park project, according to a news release. The funding was part of $30.9 million in grants awarded by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission, per the news release.

The gist

As a condition for receiving the grant, the town must keep Trotter Park accessible to the public, properly maintained and designated as park land in perpetuity, according to the release. The grant from the state will be used, along with other city funds to pay for the project, as previously reported by Community Impact.

“This $750,000 grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will have a tremendous impact on our community by allowing us to enhance outdoor recreation opportunities for all residents,” Flower Mound’s Parks and Recreations Director Chuck Jennings said in an email. “It will help us create spaces where families can gather, children can play, and individuals can enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle.”

The 13-acre park will include tennis, pickleball and basketball courts, a plaza space, a playground, a trail, and more.
