The independent senior living development Watermere at Flower Mound will be expanded after a unanimous vote by the town council Nov. 4. The development consists of 210 senior housing units and 14 villas now. It will be expanded to include 24 more villas.

The details

Watermere developer Andrew Chapin asked the town council members to approve a rezoning of land from office uses to high density residential uses for the new villas. These villas will be spread across nine single-story structures on the property south of Dixon Lane and west of Whyburn Drive. These will be restricted to people 55 and older.

Zooming in

Chapin said the first units at Watermere at Flower Mound filled up quickly and there’s now a waiting list with 36 people on it.

What they’re saying

“When I came out for a visit, it looked like it was great,” Flower Mound Mayor Cheryl Moore said at the Nov. 4 meeting.

Council member Brian Taylor said Chapin and his staff are doing a "phenomenal job."

“You could tell it’s a world class facility,” Taylor said at the meeting. “You can tell all the residents very much enjoy it.”
