The tail end of summer means the dog days of the season are over, and an annual event is drawing near for pooches in Flower Mound at the Community Activity Center, 1200 Gerault Road.

The details

Flower Mound's canine companions are invited to make a splash at the town’s annual Wags'N'Waves Doggie Dive from 8:30-11 a.m. Sept. 23, according to a news release from the town. Dogs can enjoy some water park fun, “puppuccinos” and other treats. All participating pet owners will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win prizes. Participants should arrive early so Flower Mound Animal Services can verify a current rabies vaccination, the release stated.

Also of note

Information from the city’s website said leashes for dogs are required before people enter the pool enclosure, and animals in heat are not permitted. The town will provide treats and toys and asked that owners refrain from bringing personal treats or toys for safety reasons. Participants should note humans are not allowed in the pool during this event. Lifeguards will be on-site to help humans; pet owners are responsible for their own pets.

Preregistration is required, and spots are limited. Day-of registration will not be available. Any owner who brings an item to donate to the local animal shelter will receive additional raffle tickets.
