According to unofficial results, Republican Kronda Thimesch won the seat for State House District 65 over Democrat Brittney Verdell. Thimesch received 59.81% of votes, with Verdell earning 40.19%.

“We are thrilled about the results tonight,” Thimesch said. “It was a strong, clear message from the residents of House District 65. ... I promise to continue my work supporting the children of Denton County. I’m ready to work for my neighbors of HD-65, and for all of Texas.”

Thimesch was elected to the Lewisville ISD board of trustees in 2015 where she served for five years, according to her campaign website.

The State House District 65 position covers parts of Denton County, including the cities of Flower Mound, Highland Village, Lewisville and more.
