The Argyle ISD board of trustees approved names for Elementary School No. 5, the new middle school and high school at a Dec. 15 meeting.

A closer look

Elementary School No. 5, located at 810 FM 407, will be named Michael Ball Elementary School after the retired Hilltop Elementary School counselor.

The district broke ground on the school Nov. 18, and it is expected to open for the 2027-28 school year, according to a district social media post.

The new middle school, located along FM 407, will be named Scott Gibson Middle School after the former Argyle Middle School principal, who died in 2024.

AISD broke ground on the school in June 2024 and it is expected to open in August 2026, according to the district’s website.

The current Argyle Middle School on Hwy. 377 will transition to the district's second high school and be named Argyle Legacy High School, in the 2027-2028 school year.

Quote of note

“This is the first opportunity for us to name a middle school that we’ve been given, and I think Mr. Gibson is worthy of that—to have his name on that school forever and honor his legacy for all he did for this district,” board president Sam Slaton said.

Also of note

The mascot of Argyle Legacy High School will be the Redhawks and the colors will be red, white and blue.
