A Mexican seafood restaurant in Flower Mound closed in early August shortly after it opened.

Cantina del Mar closed Aug. 7 after ownership could not acquire a liquor license. The restaurant opened on July 30, said owner Salvador Huerta. He added that he sold the business to someone who plans to open a Vietnamese restaurant.

Huerta said his menu was based on being able to serve liquor, and one of the clauses of the contract for the restaurant required him to get a liquor license from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission within 30 days of applying.

“We just couldn’t be able to support the restaurant with all the expenses for those two or three months while we [waited for] the TABC,” he said, adding that there was no concrete date that a restaurant could expect receiving the agency’s approval.
