The Flower Mound Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the deviation request, which has an accompanying conceptual site plan, during a July 14 meeting.
The details
The parking deviation is requested by auto repair facility Caliber Collision, which is planning to acquire the property located along Justin Road contingent on the request’s approval, said Codie Freeman, a senior planner with the town of Flower Mound. Normally, 116 parking spaces would be required, but a total of 53 are proposed for the site, according to town documents.
The auto repair facility will have 24 on-site parking spaces and plans to utilize a shared parking agreement for a further 29 spaces, Freeman said.
The proposed Caliber Collision will occupy a building totaling 29,084 square feet, per town documents.
Diving deeper
Heather Rimmer, vice president of Cross Development, the firm representing the developer, said the facility will have 24 stalls and between 16 and 20 employees.
Rimmer added that while the building is not perfect for the business, it is trying to make the space work.
“This building is not designed for the way Caliber uses a building,” Rimmer said. “It’s a great location, [but] it’s not cheap.”
What’s next
The request is expected to be considered by council at the July 21 meeting.
