A new salon set to open soon in Flower Mound seeks to attract young people from children to teenagers.
Sit Still Kids Salon targets Aug. 19 as its opening date, said Jennifer Kidd, franchise owner of the Flower Mound location at 3634 Long Prairie Road, Ste. 128. The salon will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. The business, which is appointment-based, is closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
The details
Sit Still Kids Salon’s goal is to meet the needs for all milestones of their lives, Kidd said, noting it is meant to be the place for the child’s first haircut. The salon will be a place where long, short and curly styles are cut all the way through a child’s teen years, Kidd said.
“Our goal at our salon is to empower each child by giving them the freedom of self-expression white also educating them on their hair as well—especially as they get older—and how to maintain and take care of their hair,” she said.
Zooming in
Kidd said other offerings make her salon “even more unique,” such as special stylings, semipermanent hair color, sparkle strands and glitter tattoos. These additional services make getting haircuts “an even more unique, fun experience for each child,” Kidd said.
Sit Still has an area with retail items, such as bath bombs, earrings, hair accessories and more. The salon also partners with local authors to display their children's books, Kidd said.
For the older kids who want to highlight their hair, a stylist will be able to do some basic highlights, she said. Sit Still Kids Salon also will offer hair care products.
People may go to the salon’s website until the Aug. 19 grand opening and enter to win free cuts for a year, Kidd said.
Kidd said the salon is designed with “calming wall colors while soft music plays” to make what can be an overwhelming experience more enjoyable for all visitors. Parents will be offered beverages—cold or hot—as they wait, Kidd said, including a glass of wine or beer.
Quote of note
“Our goal for our salon also is to not only about making kids feel amazing in their own skin, but we also want the parent to come in ... and sit and relax,” Kidd said.
