The Boys and Girls Club of Collin County will hold its annual charity event at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center in Frisco and is looking for auction items and sponsors in the months leading to it.

The event, called the Chrysalis Ball, will take place from 6 p.m. to midnight Oct. 18.

The organization is seeking support after its membership has grown by more than 22 percent in each of the last two years. As a result, the organization obtained four more buses to transport children in Collin County schools to its clubs.

The buses the organization buys cost about $40,000 each, said Michael Simpson, Boys and Girls Club of Collin County CEO. The Chrysalis Ball will help raise money for operation funds and scholarships to families, he said.

"Events like this are so important because it costs so much to run an organization like this, and many of our families can't afford the extra fees [beyond membership]," Simpson said.
