McKinney ISD Board of Trustees approved two improvement projects and the sale of a 6.71-acre tract of land at tonight's board meeting.
Here is a rundown on the improvement projects and land sold:
Tennis court resurfacing
The tennis court resurfacing project, approved for $89,956, will resurface 19 courts. This summer the resurfacing will begin with four courts at Dowell Middle School, four courts at Faubion Middle School and eight courts at McKinney High School, according to MISD documents. The courts are expected to be complete by the start of the 2017-18 school year, which starts on Aug. 28.
The remaining court repairs will take place over the next two years.
Funding for these projects come from the 2016 bond program, which designated $432,000 for the resurfacing of district tennis courts.
Indoor turf replacement
A turf replacement project was also approved at McKinney High School’s indoor multipurpose building for $239,000 and will be funded from the 2016 bond program.
The McKinney High School indoor practice field is made with synthetic turf, which was completed over 20 years ago. Due to its daily use, the turf needs to be replaced, according to MISD documents.
The turf replacement will take place in early June and is estimated to be complete by Aug. 28.

The sale of a 6.71-acre tract of land north of McClure Elementary School was also approved. The piece of land located at the southwest corner of US 380 and Ridge Road was sold for $1.86 million, according to MISD documents.
