Developments along Frisco’s $5 Billion Mile are making progress. Two developments, The Star in Frisco and Wade Park, both had major announcements in early November.

The Star in Frisco

New details were released Nov. 3 on the Omni Hotel. The hotel is going in The Star in Frisco, a 93-acre development that will include the Dallas Cowboys world headquarters.

The hotel and convention center will be connected to The Ford Center, the Cowboys’ multiuse events center. It is expected to open in 2017.

The 16-story hotel will feature 300 rooms and suites with the interior design reflecting Frisco’s motto, “Progress in Motion,” and the Dallas Cowboys’ history. It will include a fine-dining restaurant, a lobby coffee and wine bar, and a rooftop pool bar and grill. The rooftop pool and deck will include fire pits and cabanas.

The hotel will also include a luxury retail store that will feature Dallas Cowboys-inspired art.

James Caldwell, TRT Holdings president and Omni Hotels CEO, said the company was leery at first of the idea of building a hotel in Frisco.

“There’s a lot of competition in this area,” he said. “There’s hotels that just opened; there’s hotels that are under construction; there’s hotels that are being planned. What we’re fixing to build here is going to stand out from the crowd.”
