Texas Health Denton earns reaccreditation as a primary stroke center

The Primary Stroke Center certification is one of the advanced stroke certifications offered by Joint Commission, according to its website.

Strokes are the fourth-leading cause of death in both Texas and the United States, according to the release. The certification to become a Primary Stroke Center includes the full range of stroke care, which is diagnosis, education, rehabilitation and treatment, according to the release.

“We consistently provide high-quality treatment, education and rehab,” said Janet Adams, Texas Health Denton’s Stroke Program coordinator. “We meet patients where they are, with the care they deserve, no matter the stroke symptom.”

In order to qualify as a Primary Stroke Center, hospitals must have access to advanced imaging resources, have an inpatient stroke unit and employ staff with specialized education for caring for stroke patients, the release states.
