Denton City Council approved Deputy City Manager Cassey Ogden’s promotion to interim city manager at a March 3 council meeting.
“Congratulations, Cassey Ogden,” Mayor Pro Tem Suzi Rumohr said at the meeting. “Cassey will be our interim city manager starting April 1.”

Ogden was named deputy city manager in February 2025 and she has 17 years of experience working for the city.
“My focus as interim city manager will be to provide seamless stability, ensure our projects stay on schedule, our fiscal health remains a priority, and that we continue to provide the high-quality services our community expects and deserves,” Ogden said in a public statement released by the city.
Current city manager Sara Hensley is set to retire at the end of March. Hensley served as city manager since 2022 and was initially hired as an assistant city manager in 2019, according to Denton’s website.
Looking ahead
Denton Chief Communications Officer Dustin Sternbeck said City Council is obtaining proposals from recruiting consultants to look for a new city permanent city manager.
Council members expect to approve a contract with a recruiter in March or early April and hire the new city manager in about 6-9 months after that, Sternbeck said.
