The big picture
The Republican race for Denton County Commissioners Court, Precinct 4, advanced to a May runoff election after no candidate received at least 50% of the vote in the March 3 primary.
Wylie and Roehrs were the candidates who received the most votes out of the four candidates who initially ran, according to previous reporting.
Wylie earned 36.86% of the votes while Roehrs secured 23.17%. The pair advanced to the runoff over current Denton Mayor Gerard Hudspeth and incumbent Dianne Edmondson.
The winner of the May 26 runoff race will face Democratic nominee Stephanie Draper in the November midterm election. The winner of that race will earn the Precinct 4 seat, and their term will start in January 2027.

Early voting in Texas' runoff elections runs from May 18-22. Runoff elections, like primaries, are separated by political party, meaning Texans who voted in one party's primary this March may only vote in the same party's runoff.
