David Wylie and Valerie Roehrs will head to a runoff election to earn the Republican candidacy for the Denton County Commissioners Court, Precinct 4 seat.
With all Denton County precincts reporting, Wylie garnered 9,147 votes, or 36.86% of the votes cast. Roehrs had 5,750 votes, which is 23.17% of the ballots, according to unofficial election results from the county.
Gerard Hudspeth was less than 250 votes behind Roehrs with 5,536, or 22.31%, and incumbent Dianne Edmondson has 4,381, or 17.66%
Because none of the candidates earned at least 50% of the votes, the race will go to a runoff race for the top-two candidates who had the most votes. Wylie and Roehrs will face off May 26, according to the Denton County website.
All results remain unofficial until canvassed at a later date.

David Wylie has held steady in the Republican primary race for the Precinct 4 seat with the Denton County Commissioners Court by earning 36.63% of the votes cast.
Wylie secured 8,160 votes while Valerie Roehrs tabbed 5,083 votes, or 22.82%. Closely behind Roehrs is Gerard Hudspeth, who has 5,046 votes, or 22.65%.
Dianne Edmondson rounds out the quartet with 3,989 votes, or 17.91%.
In Denton County, 134 of 252 precincts have reported their voting results.

With 57 of 252 Denton County precincts reporting, David Wylie still maintains a lead over three candidates vying to win the Republican primary election for Denton County Commissioners Court, Precinct 4. He has secured 7,341 of votes cast, or 36.87%
Gerard Hudspeth has the second-most votes with 4,529, or 22.75%. Valerie Roehrs follows with 4,397 votes, which is 22.09%, and Dianne Edmondson has 3,642 votes, or 18.29%.

Wylie is leading all four candidates with 6,458 votes, or 37%. Gerard Hudspeth garnered 3,984 votes, or 22.82%, while Valerie Roehrs secured 3,774 votes, or 21.62%. Dianne Edmondson rounds out the candidates with 3,239 votes, or 18.56%, according to unofficial election results from the Denton County Elections website.
After being in office since 2018, incumbent Edmondson is seeking her third term as the Precinct 4 representative for Denton County.
Hudspeth is the current mayor of the city of Denton, Wylie has experience as a State Republican Executive Committee member and Roehrs is a business owner and rancher.
The Democratic primary race is uncontested, with Stephanie Draper as the only candidate running.

The winner of the Republican primary will face Draper in the November election. The winner of that election will be sworn in for a four-year term in January 2027.
