June 28: Downtown Plano begins summer movie series
The Historic Downtown Plano Association is hosting a summer music series at Haggard Park. The series will kick off June 28 with a screening of “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” The association will also screen “Wreck it Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet” on July 27. Guests will also be able to participate in activities prior to the start of the movie. There will be vendors on site selling refreshments. Costumes are also welcome. June 29: Local restaurant hosts 10th annual hula event
L&L Hawaiian Barbecue in Plano will host its 10th annual Summer Hula Show on June 29. The event will feature performances from Keola’s Hula Halau, a locally organized group of natives from Polynesian islands that has performed in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Missouri. July 3: Plano band performs patriotic pops concert
The Plano Community Band will perform a patriotic-themed show on the eve of July 4. The band will perform classics such as “American Flourish,” “The Gallant Seventh,” “The Armed Forces Salute” and “America the Beautiful.” The Plano community band holds regular free performances in Plano. July 12: Eagles tribute band to perform at Legacy Hall
Legacy Hall will host a live music event featuring The Eagles cover band Desperado. The band regularly performs fan favorites, such as “Already Gone,” “Hotel California” and “New Kid in Town.” Because the event is free, seating is first come, first served. The Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center will hold a family swim night July 18. The event will include food served by In-N-Out Burger. Meals will include a burger, chips, a drink and a frozen treat. July 26: A farewell event at Collin Creek Mall before it closes for construction
Mall-goers can attend a kickoff party for the Collin Creek Mall redevelopment project. Representatives from Centurion American, the developer behind the $1 billion redevelopment project of Collin Creek Mall, will unveil their most up-to-date plans at the kickoff event.
